- Memory Limits for SQL Server R2 Standard and Analysis Services - Stack Overflow

Before a virtual machine running on a Hyper-V R2 SP1 host can use Dynamic Memory, you need to upgrade the integration components for the virtual machine. To do this, begin by starting the virtual machine and logging on to the guest operating system.

Figure 2: Upgrading the integration services for a virtual machine. After you select Install Hyper-V Integration Services, you'll be notified that a previous version of Hyper-V integration services has been detected, and you will be prompted to upgrade to the newer version. Once the integration services have been upgraded, you'll need to restart the virtual machine for the changes to take effect. Once integration services have been upgraded, you must shut down the virtual machines before you can turn on Dynamic Memory for them.

You can then open the Settings dialog for the virtual machine and select the Memory option. To enable Dynamic Memory for the virtual machine, select the Dynamic option, as shown in Figure 4. Then specify values for the following four parameters:. Figure 4: Enabling and configuring Dynamic Memory on a virtual machine. For example, if I want to allocate 64 GB of memory to SQL, will there be any memory available under my license for me to run any other services on that instance? Note: This is not a question about physical memory limitations, as my server has more than enough physical memory to meet my allocation requirements. I am only curious to know if I will be limited by the license itself.

It looks like it's 64GB limit is per instance, not server. Other people were asking the same question in this article Stack Overflow for Teams — Start collaborating and sharing organizational knowledge. Create a free Team Why Teams?
